Other (non-academic) interests
I love listening to and playing music, especially playing violin, piano and singing.  Former groups and musical experiences include (in roughly reverse chronological order): The choir of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Old Town School of Folk Music, the Boston University Vocal Jazz Ensemble, the Boston University Symphony, Chamber, and Opera Orchestras, Soesterberg International Music Festival (now InterHarmony International Music Festival), Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra, Killington Music Festival, Interlochen Arts Camp, Blue Lake Suzuki Family Camp.

I’m also a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) and a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher (RYT-200). I completed my comprehensive mat and studio training at Pilates Chicago, and I am a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. I often sub at Logan Square Pilates, recently voted Best Pilates Studio in Chicago.

Other interests include: hiking, biking, musical theatre, comedy, reading good books, and making things. Mostly, I like to crochet, knit, and embroider. I also love to cook and bake (especially bread, pasta, and other treats).

I'm a big sports fan and love watching sports and cheering (loudly) for my favorite teams in hockey (Detroit Red Wings; BU Terriers), baseball (Boston Red Sox; Chicago Cubs), and basketball (Chicago Bulls). I’m not much of a soccer/fútbol/football fan, but I’m learning how to be a Premiere League fan (cheering for the Spurs) and also have a lot of leftover affection for the La Liga team of my former city (Reál Sociedad).  I also enjoy traveling - which is good because I have to do a lot of it! (photos on this site include:  Dingle Peninsula, Ireland; Bilbao, Spain; Paros, Greece; Nijmegen, The Netherlands; Honolulu, Hawaii; San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and Sedona, Arizona)
